Description:

The study evaluated the zinc chloride electroplating process as a substitute for cadmium cyanide electroplating in the manufacture of industrial connectors and fittings at Aeroquip Corporation. The process substitution eliminates certain wastes, specifically cadmium and cyanide, which are listed among the 17 priority toxic pollutants designated by the U.S. EPA, although as will be seen, zinc and chromium wastes increased with the process change.
