Description:

This evaluation addresses the product quality, waste reduction, and economic issues involved in recycling automotive and heavy-duty engine coolants for a facility such as the New Jersey Department of Transportation garage in Ewing, New Jersey. he specific recycling evaluated is based on the technology of distillation. oolant recycling was found to have good potential as a means of waste reduction and cost saving with a return on investment of greater than 300% in the first year. roduct quality was evaluated by conducting selected performance tests recommended in ASTM D 3306 and ASTM D 4985 standards, and by chemical characterization of the spent, recycled, and virgin coolants. ood product quality of the recycled coolant was also achieved by this unit. oiling, freezing, and corrosion resistance functions of the coolant were restored and contaminant levels were considerably reduced.
