Description:
A prototype computer-based decision support system was designed to provide small businesses with an integrated pollution prevention methodology. Preliminary research involved compilation of an inventory of existing pollution prevention tools (i.e., methodologies, software, etc.), many of which are directly applicable to the small business sector. This report documents the research conducted, analysis and selection of pollution prevention tools and system development and evaluation. A discussion of information gaps and systematic barriers inhibiting more extensive methodology development and implementation, and recommendations for overcoming these inhibiting factors are also provided in this report.
