Description:
The Long Island Sound Study Implementation Review (IR) summarizes the progress and challenges ahead for the for the Long Island Sound Study (LISS) through examination of it activities in relation to the CCMP. The LISS CCMP identified six major areas requiring management action: 1) hypoxia; 2) toxic contamination; 3) pathogen contamination; 4) floatable debris; 5) living resources and their habitats; and 6) public awareness and education. A seventh area, continuing the management conference, was included as a CCMP priority area to emphasize that the partnership of Federal, state, interstate, and local governments, educational institutions, the scientific community, industry, environmental organizations, and private individuals would ultimately be critical to successful implementation. The IR attachments includes Actions for Hypoxia Management, EPA TMDL Approval Letter, LISS Habitat Restoration Strategy, MOU - Restoration of Coastal Habitats of LIS, Listen To The Sound 2000 LISS Work Plans, Implementation Tracking Reports, LISS Policy Committee Charge, Draft Long Island Sound Agreement, LIS Monitoring Station Maps, Water Quality Reports, Volunteer Estuary Monitoring Workshop, Draft LIS Monitoring Conference Agenda, Sound Health 2001 Environmental Indicators, Sound Health 2001 Report, LIS Lobster Landings (NYSDEC), and CAC Policy Committee Letters.
