Description:

A presentation on the use of zero valent iron (ZVI) for groundwater remediation at the Memphis Defense Depot Site in Memphis, TN, will be given at a public meeting in Memphis on February 24. The presentation is being given in response to a request by a citizen's group associated with the site to have an expert speak on the subject matter. The presentation will provide information on the "science" behind the effectiveness of ZVI for chlorinated hydrocarbons such as those found at the site. The presentation will be given using powerpoint slides and will address issues such as the chemistry behind the treatment effectiveness of ZVI, the number and success of ZVI installations to date, and advances in ZVI installation methods.
