EPA Order 5360 (1998), the EPA Quality Manual for Environmental Programs, provides details for EPA organizations on implementing the requirements of Order 5360.1 CHG, Policy and Program Requirements for the Mandatory Agency-wide Quality System. The Quality Manual defines the minimum policy and program requirements for EPA organizations that must implement the Agency-wide Quality System. The Office of Environmental Information's Quality Staff serves as the central management authority for the Agency's Quality System and develops QA procedures and policies for implementation Agency-wide. The Quality Staff also oversees implementation of the Agency-wide policy for Peer Review in support of EPA's Science Policy Council. Policy requirements for EPA Organizations are defined in EPA Order 5360.1 CHG 1 and EPA Order 5360. These two documents work hand-in-hand to provide EPA with the needed management and technical practices to assure that environmental data used to support EPA decision are of adequate quality and usability for their intended purpose.
