The Dublin Core is a metadata element set intended to facilitate discovery of electronic resources. It was originally conceived for author-generated descriptions of Web resources, and the Dublin Core has attracted broad ranging international and interdisciplinary support. The characteristics of the Dublin Core that distinguish it as a prominent candidate for description of electronic resources include simplicity, semantic interoperability, international consensus, extensibility, and metadata modularity for the web. The Dublin Core Web site is the formal repository for information about the workshop series, working group activities, standards activities, and related information. It publishes the Dublin Core Metadata Element Set, Version 1.1: Reference Description. The Dublin Core has a simple constructSubject, Title, Author, Publisher, Other Agent, Date, Object Type, Form, Relation, Source, Language, and Coverage.
