Description:
A model has been developed to describe the composition dependence of the glass transition temperature (Tg) of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) + plasticizer mixtures. The model is based on Sanchez-Lacombe equation of state and the Gibbs-Di Marzio criterion, which states that the entrophy of a mixture is zero at the glass transition. The model was able to correlate data for PVC diluted with dimethyl phthalate, di-n-propyl phthalate, di-n-butyl phthalate, di(2-ethyl hexyl) phthalate, diisodecyl phthalate, n-butyl acetate, and di(2-ethylhexyl) adipate.
