Description:
This manuscript discusses the development of a research program on health effects and environmental exposures to older adults. It summarizes input to this process from experts and the public, and outlines the critical elements necessary to fully address issues of environmental public health for older adults. By reviewing primary and secondary sources germane to these components, this paper provides an academic underpinning to the development of the national agenda for the environment and the aging proposed by the US EPA in conjunction with its sister agencies.
