Description:
Since the signing of 1987 Montreal Protocol, reducing and eliminating the use of harmful solvents has become an internationally imminent environmental protection mission. Solvent substitution is an effective way to achieve this goal. The Program for Assisting the Replacement of Industrial Solvents, Verion II (PARIS II) is a Windows-based solvent design tool which can greatly reduce the time and cost required in finding solvent substitutes. It can handle either pure chemical or mixture substitutes designs. This paper briefly introduces the theory and methods used in PARI II and gives two examples of solvent design applications using PARIS II as an illustration.
