Impact/Purpose:

We evaluated whether amending bleach solutions or adjusting bleach solutions by lowering pH with acetic acid or raising free available chlorine (FAC) levels would improve efficacy in inactivating Bacillus subtilis (Bacillus atrophaeus) spores on various construction materials (maple wood, spruce wood, galvanized steel, and unglazed porcelain tiles) We also determined how varying pH and FAC levels affected bleach stability.
