Quantifying fungi/mold in the epidemiology of asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis

Citation:

Vesper, S. Quantifying fungi/mold in the epidemiology of asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis. Fungal Contributions to Pathogenesis of Asthma and Chronic Rhinosinusitis Meeting at NIH, Rockville, MD, May 30 - 31, 2019.

Impact/Purpose:

Asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis are many diseases associated with fungal/mold exposures. This presentation will summarize the past 20 years of our research in this area. By understanding the role of fungi/molds in these diseases, we hope to provide the information needed to reduce these diseases. Since these are major diseases, the results will be of great interest to the EPA Regions, physicians, and the Office of Indoor Air and the Office of Children's Health Protection.

Description:

This presentation will summarize the past 20 years of our research in this area. The presentation will demonstrate the application of quantitative PCR in quantifying fungi/molds.
