Description:
The USEPA has developed a technology transfer handbook on how to plan and implement a residential soil lead monitoring, assessment, mitigation and outreach program for residential communities. The handbook provides guidance on 1) identifying potentially impacted communities, 2) community outreach and education, 3) preparing sampling, analysis and quality assurance plans, 4) soil mitigation strategies (simple yard treatments/landscaping), and 5) developing and maintaining a data management and delivery system. The handbook showcases the lead monitoring, mitigation and outreach programs developed for the EPA EMPACT (Environmental Monitoring for Public Access and Community Tracking) Lead-Safe Yard Project.
