Description:
The report describes a preliminary, preoperational environmental survey conducted at a newly constructed advanced physical coal cleaning plant near Homer City, PA. The work is part of a comprehensive environmental assessment of physical and chemical coal cleaning processes performed by Battelle's Columbus Laboratories for the EPA. Multimedia grab-samples were gathered in the area to document the abundance or concentration of selected environmental parameters. Collected data were used to evaluate the air, water, and biological quality of the area both through interpretive techniques and by direct comparison with EPA Multimedia Environmental Goal (MEG) values.
