EPA and other national organizations with an interest in safe drinking water have committed to work together on source water
protection. The collaborative members include:
- Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies
- The American Planning Association
- Association of State Drinking Water Administrators
- Association of State and Interstate Water Pollution Control Administrators
- American Water Works Association
- The Clean Water Fund
- Environmental Finance Centers
- The Environmental Protection Agency
- Farm Service Agency
- The Groundwater Foundation
- The Ground Water Protection Council
- National Association of Counties
- The National Ground Water Association
- North American Lake Management Society
- National Rural Water Association
- River Network
- U.S. Geological Survey
- Trust for Public Land
How We Intend to Work: The members of the collaborative have agreed to do the
following:
- Share information
- Development recommendations together on source water protection
- Package and disseminate these recommendations
Goals and objectives: The source water collaborative will encourage actions
that:
- Contain or prevent contamination
- Promote development patterns that limit threats to drinking water sources
- Encourage matching uses of land with locations least likely to affect drinking water
sources; and
- Preserve the land needed to protect the quality of current and future sources of
drinking water
