Abstract

EPA Region 10 has published an 8-page case study of the 'green' remodeling of its executive suite and adjacent offices in April of 1999. The renovation is a model construction project that demonstrates the Agency's commitment to promoting sustainability and green construction. Region 10's project emphasizes three related elements: green design and construction, new concepts about space and work, and ultra flexible space that allow for future growth and changes with minimal costs and waste. The case study discusses the project's planning process, resource-efficient materials, recycling efforts, design principles, costs, product selection, partners and lessons learned.
