Abstract

The objective of the field program was to evaluate the reliability of non-methane hydrocarbon analyzers as a continuous indicator of DRE of a hazardous waste incinerator. The tasks undertaken include: (1) fabrication of a sample extraction/conditioning system for transfer of combustion gas to the hydrocarbon analyzers; (2) evaluation of the reliability of two non-methane hydrocarbon analyzers under conditions of continuous operation at a hazardous waste incinerator; and (3) determination of the correlation of non-methane hydrocarbon concentrations with combustion efficiency. During a 5-day test, two non-methane hydrocarbon analyzers (Columbia Scientific Industries Corporation Model 500-2E and HNU Systems, Inc. Model 201-250) were evaluated. During the tests, the sample conditiong/analysis system operated reasonable well.
