Abstract

This draft document describes the quantitative human exposure assessment and risk characterization being conducted to inform the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) current review of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for carbon monoxide (CO). This draft report, Risk and Exposure Assessment to Support the Review of the Carbon Monoxide Primary National Ambient Air Quality Standards: Second External Review Draft, is being provided to the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee (CASAC) CO Panel and the public for review in advance of a public meeting of the CASAC CO panel planned for March 22-23, 2010. Following that meeting, we will take CASAC and public comments into account in preparing the final document. We plan to complete the final Risk and Exposure Assessment report in May 2010. Given the significant time constraints of this review, results of the assessment are provided in this document without substantial interpretation. Rather, interpretative discussion of these results is provided in the draft Policy Assessment.
