Abstract

The Document reviews data which are currently available on the effects of low levels of dissolved oxygen on the health, growth and reproduction of freshwater aquatic organisms. Criteria for the protection of freshwater aquatic organisms are developed, based principally on data derived from studies on fish. The Criteria are presented in terms of cold and warm water species, early life stages and other life stages, as well as the length of exposure to low D. O. concentrations.
