Abstract |
A brief review of current literature in both stream reaeration and the mixing process in inland waterways is presented. The analysis of turbulent diffusion parameters is elucidated and their application to water quality studies is described. The methodology used to determine the various mixing coefficients is outlined, and plans for the collection of pertinent mixing data both in the laboratory flume and in selected Tennessee rivers is depicted. The experimental flume and pertinent measuring instruments promulgated by this study are discussed and their application and potential to the research objectives are explained. |
