Abstract
This decision document presents the selected remedial action for the Bendix Superfund Site (Bendix Site) in St. Joseph, Michigan. The selected remedial alternative for the Bendix Site is Alternative 3: Ground Water Institutional Controls and Deed Restrictions, Soil Vapor Extraction (Eastern Plume Inferred Source Removal), and Monitored Natural Attenuation (Eastern and Western Plumes). The selected remedy focuses on confirming and monitoring the natural degradation of contaminants that is occurring in the Western and Eastern Plumes. In addition, a soil vapor extraction (SVE) system in the vicinity of the Eastern Plume source area would be used to control/reduce VOCs in the vadose zone soils.
