Abstract
The report presents the results of a study to examine the practicability and cost of columnar denitrification of secondary effluent. The purpose of the denitrification process is to reduce the nitrate ion, thus releasing nitrogen as nitrogen gas. The basic design assumptions are presented. Columnar denitrification is an alternative to denitrification in dispersed floc reactors.
