| Abstract | We are pleased to present the 2001 Annual Report from the Gulf of Mexico Regional Panel to the national Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force. The Gulf Regional Panel coordinates aquatic invasive species prevention, control, research, and outreach efforts in the Gulf of Mexico region, and is committed to assisting the five Gulf States - Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas -in managing their individual and shared aquatic invasive species issues. The Gulf Regional Panel's goal in aquatic invasive species management is to maintain ecosystem health and preserve biodiversity in the Gulf region, in a manner that provides a high quality of life for residents and sustains local and regional economies dependent on these healthy ecosystems. |
