Abstract
The cost associated with building and operating wastewater treatment plants or individual wastewater processes has always been difficult to estimate for planning purposes. It is hoped that this will prove a useful working document for engineers and scientists working in the field of wastewater treatment. Costs for conventional treatment plants include those for primary sedimentation, activated sludge and trickling filter plants. Advanced treatment processes considered in this collection are: solids removal by coagulation and sedimentation; filtration through sand or graded media; ammonia stripping, granular carbon adsorption; electrodialysis, microstraining of secondary effluent; aeration of secondary effluent; chlorination of secondary effluent; and pipelines for ultimate disposal. Also, added are construction costs for individual equipment, structures and consumable items.
