Abstract |
The reaction and behavior of rats when injected with silica gel dust are being tested, as opposed to the reaction and behavior of a pure quartz dust application. For the experiment we used female Wistar rats weighing 250g. The animals were nourished with Altronium-R and water ad libitum. The dust originated from a fine dust sample from E. Merck, Darmstadt. The quartz was Doerentruper Nr. 12, sedimented to less than 3 micrograms. Both were suspended in a sterile 0.9 salt solution. The intratrachea injection contained a dust dose of 30mg/animal in 0.5ml salt solution-the intraperitoneum injections 50mg/animal in 1.0ml salt solution. |
