| Abstract |
Air pollution control systems in the primary metals industry, particularly the steel and copper segments, rely on large capture and ventilation systems with flow rates commonly in the range of 50,000 to 1,000,000 acfm and greater. These systems are used primarily to control process fugitive emissions from various furnaces and for building evacuation. Because these systems are in integral feature of the compliance programs of the industries involved, this manual was initiated to accomplish the following: To provide design and operation and maintenance guidelines to state and local agency personnel who evaluate the performance of these systems. To provide a comprehensive treatment of the existing literature with regard to technical and specific aspects of typical designs. To provide an easy-to-read technical manual on design and operation for the use of inspectors. |
