Abstract | The metabolism of 2-chlorotoluene was examined in 4 female rats (strain not reported) injected intravenously with a single 0.7 mg/kg dose of (U-ring-14C)2-chlorotoluene. Rats eliminated 69-81% and 14-18% of the applied dose in the urine and as expired volatiles, respectively, within 4 days after dosing. Nearly all of the volatile 14C in expired air was 2-chlorotoluene. The primary urinary metabolites were mercapturic acid, glucuronide, and 2- chlorohippurate, representing 22-24, 13-20, and 7-11% of urinary 14C, respectively. |
