Chesapeake Bay Stormwater Listening Sessions

October 18, 2010

Chesapeake Bay Stormwater Listening Sessions

EPA will be holding several public "listening sessions" in October and November 2010 to request input from the public on Chesapeake Bay-specific provisions of a new stormwater rulemaking (see the Federal Register Notice published October 8, 2010 at http://www.epa.gov/npdes/regulations/stormwater_fn1082010.pdf). At each stormwater listening session, EPA will summarize potential provisions of the stormwater rulemaking with respect to the Chesapeake Bay watershed and members of the public will be able to make 3 minute statements to EPA. If time allows, a general Q&A session may follow. As part of the listening sessions, EPA will also address environmental justice considerations and potential impacts and benefits that may arise as a consequence of the rulemaking. The environmental justice discussion will include a presentation from EPA and a discussion with the group on environmental justice considerations and potential impacts and benefits that may arise as a consequence of the rulemaking.

The listening sessions will be held:

  • October 26, 2010 in Baltimore. 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the stormwater listening session and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the environmental justice discussion at Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore 20 West Baltimore Street Baltimore, MD 21201
  • October 28, 2010 in Cambridge, MD. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the stormwater listening session and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the environmental justice discussion at Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay 100 Heron Blvd. Cambridge, MD 21613
  • November 4, 2010 in Washington, DC. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the environmental justice discussion and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the stormwater listening session at EPA East, 1201 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20004
  • November 9, 2010 in Richmond. 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the stormwater listening session and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the environmental justice discussion at Omni Richmond Hotel 100 South 12th Street Richmond, VA 23219
  • November 17, 2010 in Harrisburg. 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the stormwater listening session and 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the environmental justice discussion at Forum Building 5th & Walnut Harrisburg, PA

Please register for these listening sessions at least two days before each session begins at www.epa.gov/npdes/training. You may participate in either the stormwater listening session, the environmental justice discussion, or both. These listening sessions will occur in the five locations above. You must attend to participate - a conference call number will not be available.

EPA will also hold a "virtual" listening session webcast on November 16, 2010, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST. Information on how to register for the webcast will be posted by the end of October.
