Sources of Funding2009 Community Action for a Renewed Environment (CARE) Grants - The 2009 U.S. EPA CARE Cooperative Agreement Request for Proposals (RFP) is now available with $3 million available to support community-based partnerships to reduce pollution at the local level. Applications for the CARE grants are due March 16, 2009. Eligible applicants include county and local governments, tribes, non-profit organizations and universities. EPA will conduct three webcasts, February 3, 24 and 27, 2009, for prospective applicants to ask questions about the application process. Additional information about the webcasts, how the CARE program works, community profiles of past grant recipients, and how to apply for the 2009 grants are available on the CARE website. Municipal Handbook: Funding Options - Describes strategies and provides case study examples of how local governments are generating reliable funding for green infrastructure. Clean Water Act Nonpoint Source Grant (Section 319 Grants) - Congress amended the Clean Water Act (CWA) in 1987 to establish the Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Program because it recognized the need for greater federal leadership to help focus State and local nonpoint source efforts. Under Section 319, States, Territories, and Indian Tribes receive grant money which supports a wide variety of activities including technical assistance, financial assistance, education, training, technology transfer, demonstration projects, and monitoring to assess the success of projects that have been implemented. Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) - CWSRF program has provided more than $4.5 billion annually in recent years to fund water quality protection projects for wastewater treatment, stormwater management, nonpoint source pollution control, and watershed and estuary management. Community Development Block Grant Program Eco-Logical Grant Program OWOW Funding - EPA's Office of Wetlands, Oceans, and Watersheds has created this Web site to provide tools, databases, and information about sources of funding to practitioners and funders that serve to protect watersheds. Rural Utility Service Targeted Watersheds Grants Program - A competitive grant program that provides funding to community-driven, environmental results oriented watershed projects. To date, more than $37 million has been awarded to 46 watershed organizations. The program also provides capacity building grants to service provider organizations that can deliver training and tools for all watershed organizations across the country.
