The objective of the research project is to develop appropriate toxicokinetic/toxicodynamic based statistical methods for exposure inferences based on biomarker measurements.


In many toxicokinetic models, exposures may be reasonably treated as discrete events occurring daily with randomly distributed magnitudes. Biomarker measurements appropriate for this model, such as blood mercury concentrations, can be written as time-weighted linear combinations of all prior exposure events. Classic mathematical statistics methods can then be used to develop equations describing the statistical properties of the biomarker measurements and their relationship to exposure history.

Expected Results:

By using classic mathematical statistics methods, equations can be developed to describe the statistical properties of biomarker measurements.
