Inhibition of the Sodium-Iodide Symporter By Perchlorate: An Evaluation of Lifestage Sensitivity Using Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) Modeling (Final Report)
Notice EPA is releasing this final report as supporting material for the Federal Register Notice: Drinking Water: Perchlorate Supplemental Request for Comments as announced in an August 19, 2009 Federal Register Notice.
This report provides an analysis of perchlorate-mediated inhibition of the sodium-iodide symporter (NIS) in humans using published PBPK models, focusing on the degree of NIS inhibition as a function of lifestage. The models provide information that may be used to address differences in human responses to perchlorate across lifestages.
