Background
Tetrachloroethylene (perc) is a chemical solvent widely used in dry cleaning, metal degreasing, the manufacture of some consumer products and other chemicals. It is a prevalent groundwater and drinking water contaminant, is present in hundreds of Superfund sites, and has been detected in the air in and around dry cleaning facilities and nearby residences.

| Aug 2008 | EPA hosted a public listening session as announced in the July 29, 2008 Federal Register Notice. |
| Nov 2008 | National Academy of Sciences (NAS) conducted an external peer review meeting to review the draft document on Nov. 13-14, 2008 in Washington DC as announced in the October 16, 2008 Federal Register Notice |
| Jan 2009 | NAS held their second external review meeting to discuss the draft peer review report on Jan 29-30, 2009, in Washington DC. |
