IRIS Toxicological Review of Cis-& Trans-1,2-Dichloroethylene (2010 Final)
EPA is announcing the release of the final report, Toxicological Review of cis-1,2-Dichloroethylene: in support of the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS). The updated Summary for cis and trans-1,2-Dichloroethylene and accompanying Quickview have also been added to the IRIS Web site.
The final Toxicological Review of cis- & trans-1,2-Dichloroethylene provides scientific support and rationale for the hazard and dose-response assessment pertaining to chronic exposure to cis- and trans-1,2-dichloroethylene. 1,2-Dichloroethylene is used as a solvent for waxes and resins, in rubber extraction, and as a coolant in refrigeration plants. The cis- and trans- isomers have slightly different physical, chemical, and biological properties. The trans-isomer is more widely used. 1,2-Dichloroethylene is frequently detected at federal and state hazardous waste sites across the country.
