Abstract

This handbook provided a summary of the available statistical data on various factors used in assessing human exposure.

Volume I, General Factors, includes an introduction and discussion of uncertainty and provides data for drinking water consumption, soil ingestion, inhalation rates, and dermal factors, including skin area and soil adherence factors.

Volume II, Food Ingestion, provides data for consumption of fruits and vegetables, fish, meat and dairy products, homegrown foods, and breast milk.

Volume III, Activity Factors, provides data for human activity factors, consumer product use, and reference residence.

In each volume, the basic equations using the parameters to calcuate exposure levels are provided as are the recommended values for various segments of the population who may have characteristics different from the general population.
