IRIS Agenda and Literature Searches

Notice

[Jul 2012] EPA posted the literature search for benzo[a]pyrene in anticipation of starting a draft assessment and is soliciting scientific information on health effects that may result from exposure to this chemical substance. EPA will accept information related to the specific substance included herein as well as any other compound being assessed by the IRIS Program. [Federal Register Notice Jul 16, 2012]

[Jun 2012] EPA posted the literature search for acrylonitrile (CAS No. 107-13-1) and is requesting scientific information on health effects that may result from exposure to this chemical substance.

[May 2012] EPA is announced the 2012 IRIS agenda in the Federal Register and is requesting scientific information on health effects that may result from exposure to the chemical substances on the agenda, including any assessments that EPA has started this year. [Federal Register Notice May 7, 2012]

Report Information

IRIS is an EPA database of human health effects that may result from exposure to chemical substances found in the environment. EPA's process for developing IRIS assessments is described in detail on the IRIS Process Web page.

IRIS Agenda

[UPDATE] EPA is announcing the IRIS 2012 agenda and requesting scientific information on health effects that may result from exposure to the chemical substances on the agenda, including assessments that EPA is starting this year. Full details of the IRIS Agenda is posted in the federal register. [Federal Register Notice May 7, 2012]

See the history section (below) for a list of previous IRIS Agenda announcements in the Federal Register.

IRIS Literature Searches

Since December 2007, EPA has actively solicited information from the public at the beginning of assessment development. As literature searches are completed, the results are posted here. All available literature searches are listed in the table below. The public is invited to review the literature search results and submit additional information to EPA through the regulations.gov web site. Instructions for submitting information are given below. Then, based on the results of the literature searches and as EPA resources allow, assessments will be started for those chemicals with data that may support development of one or more toxicity values. For a list of chemical currently under development, see IRISTrack.
