Overview FY 2009 Funding Levels
Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund  The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's (USFWS) Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund provides financial assistance to states and territories that have entered into cooperative agreements with the USFWS to assist in the development of programs for the conservation of endangered and threatened species. The assistance provided to the state or territorial wildlife agency can include animal, plant, and habitat surveys; research; planning; monitoring; habitat protection, restoration, management, and acquisition; and public education. The Fund is dispersed to the states and territories through four programs: Conservation Grants, Habitat Conservation Planning Assistance Grants, Habitat Conservation Plan Land Acquisition Grants, and Recovery Land Acquisition Grants. Although not directly eligible for these grants, third parties such as nonprofit organizations and local governments may work with their state or territorial wildlife agency to apply for these funds.  75.501 million
